Aliplast and Cantina Pizzolato recycle winery's plastic film into new packaging

Italian plastics recycler Aliplast and winery Cantina Pizzolato reported results after a year of collaboration recycling plastic film used in the winery's packaging and logistics. In 2025 the winery handed over 19,810 kg of plastic film to Aliplast, with a further 1,801 kg collected locally, taking the winery's plastic recycling rate to 91.7 percent. The recovered material is processed at Aliplast's Istrana plant into recyclate pellets used to make new films containing 30 percent recycled content.

Why this mattersThe case illustrates a localised closed-loop model for plastic film that producers may scale to meet PPWR recyclability and recycled-content requirements.

  • Cantina Pizzolato handed over 19,810 kg of plastic film to Aliplast in 2025
  • A further 1,801 kg of film was collected via a local collection scheme
  • 91.7 percent of the winery's plastic waste was sent for recycling
  • Aliplast processes the material at its Istrana plant in northern Italy into recyclate pellets
  • New films produced contain 30 percent recycled plastic and 70 percent virgin material
  • The companies frame the project in the context of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
