ALTEO doubles Hungarian deposit-return sorting capacity to 28,000 tonnes
ALTEO Circular inaugurated an automated sorting plant for Hungary's deposit return system at Kistarcsa on 13 October 2026, adding 14,000 tonnes a year of capacity to separate and bale returned PET bottles and metal cans. With the Kőbánya plant opened in 2025, ALTEO Group's capacity reaches 28,000 tonnes a year, which the reporting publication estimates at 40-50% of the PET and metal volumes returned through the scheme.
Why this mattersSorting and baling capacity, not collection, determines whether returned PET and cans become bottle-grade feedstock, shaping how much recycled material Hungarian producers can source domestically.
