German food industry body seeks lighter PPWR producer register rules

The Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) has called on the European Commission to simplify the planned implementing act for the PPWR producer register under Article 44. The association proposes a binding EU-wide core dataset for packaging and wants national registers to draw duplicate data from existing EPR organisations rather than requiring separate reporting.

Why this mattersIf adopted, a harmonised EU core dataset would cut duplicate reporting for packaging producers filing across multiple member states.
