Tetra Pak and Jealsa launch first carton pack for canned tuna

Tetra Pak has developed with Spanish canner Jealsa the first carton package for canned tuna, using the Tetra Recart format. A 200ml Mini version has launched in Sweden with retailer Axfood, ahead of a wider rollout to producers and food brands worldwide.

• The pack uses up to 71% FSC-certified paper from renewable sources.
• Tetra Pak states the carbon footprint is 85% lower than steel cans and 83% lower than glass jars.
• Jealsa will sell the format under its own brands Rianxeira, Mare Aperto and Robinson Crusoe, and for private label.
