Keryas and Al Karama sign MoU for USD 12m Oman tissue mill

Keryas Paper Industry and Al Karama Hypermarket Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a USD 12m, 20,000-tonne-a-year tissue mill in Phase 7 of Sohar Industrial City, Oman, through a jointly owned vehicle, Sohar Paper Products LLC. The project will use tissue machinery sourced from Taiwan, with engineering by India's C2C Consultancy, and targets commercial start-up by the end of 2027. It extends Keryas's existing 150,000-tonne kraft paper business, which supplies fluting and testliner for packaging, into domestic tissue production for Oman and the wider Gulf.

Why this mattersA Gulf kraft paper producer diversifying into tissue signals local substitution of imported grades and broader paper capacity build-out in Oman.
