Pregis launches recyclable metallized PE barrier film for food packaging

Pregis Performance Flexibles has introduced a mono-material metallized polyethylene high-barrier sealant film intended to replace metallized OPP and PET structures used in coffee, snack and pet food packaging. The film is prequalified as store drop-off recyclable through How2Recycle and will be shown at Pack Expo International in Chicago, 18-21 October 2026.

Why this mattersA recyclable substitute for metallized OPP/PET removes a key technical barrier to mono-material specification in high-barrier food packaging, pressured by state-level US EPR fees.

• Pregis introduced a mono-material metallized PE high-barrier sealant film, prequalified as store drop-off recyclable via How2Recycle.
