Sudpack has reported a 73% cut in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions in 2025 against its 2021 baseline, compared with a 2030 target of 76.3% under its Science Based Targets initiative commitments. Total group CO2e emissions fell 21% over the same period, while Scope 3.1 emissions from purchased goods and services fell 16%. Renewable energy now accounts for 57% of the group's energy mix, targeted to reach 88% by 2030.
Why this mattersThe results show a plastics packaging converter can cut direct emissions sharply while expanding capacity, a benchmark for peers under SBTi pressure.
- Scope 1 and 2 emissions down 73% in 2025 versus the 2021 baseline, against a 76.3% target for 2030
- Total group CO2e emissions down 21% since 2021
- The group carbon footprint rose 3.91% against 2024, attributed to higher sales volumes and the Erolzheim and Coulmer plant expansions
- Scope 3.1 emissions from purchased goods and services down 16%, targeting 25% by 2030
- Renewable energy share of the total energy mix stands at 57%, targeted to reach 88% by 2030
- All EU production sites run on green electricity after Coulmer, France switched at the start of 2025
Sudpack has consolidated its Pure-Line mono-material PP and PE pouch films under a new brand, CarbonLite, covering flowpacks, doypacks and block-bottom pouches for snacks, cheese, baguettes and confectionery. The company has now extended the CarbonLite PurePP technology to spouted pouches for cold-filled drinkable yoghurt, citing recyclability above 95% and a CO2e footprint per square metre over 40% lower than an equivalent PET/aluminium/PE laminate. A Pure PP flowpack in the range has achieved a 92% recycling rate certified by cyclos-HTP, positioning the range ahead of the EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
Why this mattersExtending one recyclable mono-material film platform across snack, dairy and spouted-pouch formats gives brand owners a single compliance route ahead of PPWR deadlines.
- Sudpack has grouped Pure-Line mono-material PP and PE pouch films under the CarbonLite brand.
- CarbonLite covers flowpacks, doypacks and block-bottom pouches for snacks, dairy, bakery and confectionery.
- A CarbonLite Pure PP flowpack has a 92% recycling rate certified by cyclos-HTP.
- CarbonLite PurePP has been extended to spouted pouches for cold-filled drinkable yoghurt.
- The spouted-pouch PP film, paired with a PP spout, offers recyclability above 95%.
- CO2e footprint per square metre of the 111um PP spouted pouch is over 40% lower than a 103um PET/aluminium/PE laminate.
- Europe's yogurt drink market is forecast to grow from USD 4.6 billion to about USD 6.7 billion by 2034, with flexible pouches the fastest-growing format at 8%
- The above-95% recyclability rate was assessed via CHIRA software but has not been externally validated
- The PP spouted-pouch film matches the shelf life of incumbent PET/aluminium/PE laminates, per internal testing
- European market for yogurt drinks is forecast to grow from USD 4.6 billion to about USD 6.7 billion by 2034
- Global yoghurt drink market projected to grow from USD 4.6bn to USD 6.7bn by 2034, with Europe holding 30% of global sales.
- PET bottles and cups currently hold a combined 44% share of the yoghurt drink packaging market.
- CarbonLite range extended to PP- and PE-based flow packs for cheese snacks, grated cheese, mozzarella and larger cheese portions.
- Multipeel Pure PP top web pairs with mono-PP rigid film for a fully PP recyclable structure, or with mono-APET trays designed to separate during recycling.
- New cheese-pack formats are tested on Südpack's multiXtrusion pilot line before full-scale production.
Südpack Medica opened an expanded production facility at Coulmer, France, on 17 July 2026, a project that at its launch was the largest single investment in the company's history. Construction began with a groundbreaking in September 2023 and has nearly doubled cleanroom space in ISO 7 and ISO 8 classes for sterile barrier systems and primary pharmaceutical packaging.
Why this mattersNear-doubled ISO 7 and ISO 8 cleanroom space at Coulmer adds sterile barrier and primary pharma capacity for western European medical customers.
- Official opening took place on 17 July 2026 at the Coulmer site in France.
- At its launch the project was the largest single investment project in Südpack's history.
- Cleanroom production area in ISO 7 and ISO 8 classes was nearly doubled.
- Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony on 19 September 2023.
- The plant holds ISO 13485 and ISO 15378 certification for medical devices and GMP primary packaging.
