WERIT, Frontier Agriculture and Wisdom Systems launch closed-transfer IBC for sprayers

WERIT, Frontier Agriculture and Wisdom Systems have jointly developed a closed transfer system that lets farmers fill crop sprayers directly from reusable intermediate bulk containers, cutting operator exposure, spillage and packaging waste against pouring from conventional containers. WERIT adapted its 600-litre IBC with a Micromatic valve and a channelled base that reduces residual product to under one litre. The partners say sprayer loading is up to 40% faster than conventional filling.

Why this mattersThe collaboration shows IBC packaging design being engineered around a specific application to displace smaller single-use containers, a template other agrochemical distributors may replicate.

  • WERIT adapted a 600-litre IBC with a Micromatic valve and a base channel that cuts residual product to less than one litre.
  • Closed transfer reduces operator and site exposure by around 98% compared with open pouring, according to Wisdom Systems.
  • Transfer rates reach 35 litres per minute, metered by an electronic flow meter accurate to 0.5%.
  • Frontier has expanded the system from a single product in a 1,000-litre IBC to more than 20 crop protection and nutrition products.
  • Conventional IBCs can retain 15-20 litres of residual product, according to Wisdom Systems.
  • Closed transfer systems allow UK farmers to load sprayers up to 40% faster.
