Shantou Haixun gets approval for 31,350 t/yr PET flake washing plant
Shantou Haixun Environmental Protection Technology has received environmental approval from local authorities in Shantou, China, for a waste PET bottle washing and crushing plant with annual capacity of 31,350 tonnes of PET flake. The CNY 12m (USD 1.8m) project, on a 7,494 square metre site in Sima Pu town, adds front-end recycled-PET processing capacity in the Chaoshan region of Guangdong province.
Why this mattersAdds pre-processing capacity feeding regional recycled-PET chains, as chemical and physical recycling projects in the same cluster expand in parallel.
- The Chaonan branch of Shantou's environment bureau approved the project on 14 October 2026, after public notice in September.
- Planned capacity is 31,350 tonnes a year of PET flake from washed waste bottles.
- Total investment is CNY 12m (USD 1.8m) on a 7,494 square metre site in Sima Pu town, Chaonan district.
- Process wastewater will be partly reused in washing and crushing, with the rest sent to the municipal sewage network.
- The plant will include a 100 cubic metre emergency containment pond for accident wastewater.
- The project adds to regional recycled-PET capacity alongside a textile recycling project and a 100,000 tonne chemical recycling project in the Chaoshan area.
