Tetra Pak extends Tetra Recart carton into Chinese dessert soups with Shanghai Meilin
Tetra Pak has partnered with Shanghai Meilin, a sub-brand of Shanghai Bright Meat Group, to package ready-to-eat Chinese dessert soups in its Tetra Recart carton, giving the products up to 18 months of ambient shelf life. The launch covers Rock Sugar Mung Bean Soup and Rock Sugar Snow Fungus Soup, building on earlier joint work applying the format to regional dishes such as braised pork rice and beef curry.
Why this mattersThe extension shows carton packaging displacing glass and metal in ready-to-eat categories in China, widening Tetra Pak's addressable market against rigid-pack incumbents.
