Vetropack sets first public targets under Strategy 2035

Vetropack used its first Capital Markets Day to unveil Strategy 2035 and publish mid-term financial targets for the first time, covering 2026 to 2030 against a 2025 base. The glass packaging maker is targeting low-single-digit percentage revenue growth above the market at constant exchange rates, a return to a double-digit operating margin and a double-digit return on capital employed by the end of the period. Growth is to come from customer solutions beyond glass, structurally growing segments such as low and no-alcohol drinks, food and premium wine, and export market development.

Why this mattersFirst public targets commit Vetropack to restoring a double-digit operating margin by 2030 and to growth beyond glass containers, giving customers a measurable benchmark.

  • Vetropack presented Strategy 2035 and, for the first time, public mid-term financial targets at its first Capital Markets Day
  • Targets run to 2030 with 2025 as the base year: low-single-digit percentage revenue growth above the market at constant exchange rates
  • The group targets a recovery in operating profit and a double-digit operating margin by the end of the period
  • A double-digit return on capital employed is targeted over the mid term
  • Growth levers are product and service solutions for food and drink customers, structurally growing segments (low- and no-alcohol drinks, food, premium wines) and export market development
  • The board approved the revised strategy at the end of August, with its key points published alongside the 2026 half-year report

Vetropack hires KONČAR-Helb to upgrade power grid at Austrian plant

KONČAR-Helb, part of Croatian electrical engineering group KONČAR, has signed a contract with Vetropack Austria to reconstruct and modernise the 110 kV power system at the Pöchlarn glass container plant. The work covers rebuilding the 110/20 kV substation, upgrading medium-voltage installations and adding new infrastructure to raise capacity and supply reliability. No contract value or completion date was disclosed.

Why this mattersGrid upgrades underpin the continuous, energy-intensive melting operations glassmakers depend on as production becomes more automated and power demand rises.

  • KONČAR-Helb, part of Croatian group KONČAR, signed a contract to reconstruct the 110 kV substation and power system at Vetropack Austria's Pöchlarn glass container plant.
  • The work covers reconstruction of the 110/20 kV system, modernisation of medium-voltage installations and construction of new infrastructure.
  • KONČAR said the project draws on solutions from across its group and expands its presence in the Austrian market.
  • No contract value or completion date was disclosed.

Vetropack unveils Strategy 2035 targeting double-digit margin by 2030

Vetropack presented its Strategy 2035 at its first Capital Markets Day on 16 September 2026, setting mid-term targets of above-market sales growth in the low single digits and a return to a double-digit operating margin by 2030. The strategy leans on expanding service offerings, targeting growth segments such as low-alcohol drinks and premium wines, developing export markets, and improving operational efficiency through standardisation, automation and digitalisation.

Why this mattersA public, numbers-backed mid-term target set gives investors a benchmark against which to judge whether the glassmaker can restore profitability amid soft European demand.

  • Vetropack held its first Capital Markets Day on 16 September 2026 at its Bülach headquarters.
  • The company targets above-market sales growth in the low single-digit percentage range by 2030 versus 2025, at constant exchange rates.
  • Vetropack aims to return to a double-digit operating margin and achieve a double-digit return on operating capital employed by 2030.
  • The strategy rests on three growth drivers: expanding services beyond packaging, targeting expanding segments such as low-alcohol drinks and premium wines, and developing export markets.
  • Vetropack is ramping up its lightweight, thermally tempered reusable bottle Rezon at its Pöchlarn site for large-scale production.
  • The strategy was approved by the Board of Directors in late August 2026 and its key points were published in the Semi-Annual Report 2026.
  • The Rezon thermally toughened lightweight reusable bottle is up to 30 percent lighter than a conventional reusable bottle and achieves more trip cycles
  • Rezon is already used as a standard reusable bottle by Austrian brewers ahead of being scaled up for industrial mass production at Pöchlarn for other markets
  • Vetropack reported 2025 net revenue of CHF 778.9m and employed 3,532 people

Vetropack develops UV-protective transparent bottle for Corsican brewer Pietra

Vetropack has developed a transparent glass bottle with functional UV protection for Brasserie Pietra's Limoncella beer, a Corsican white beer introduced in 2025. The bottle is made at Vetropack Straza in Croatia using feeder colouring, in which UV-protective frits are added to colourless base glass in the feeder rather than in the melting tank. It is the first bottle Pietra has had custom-made for one of its beers.

Why this mattersThe project shows glassmakers using feeder colouring to offer brand-differentiating clear bottles with functional UV protection, a niche capability for smaller beverage customers.

  • Vetropack Straza in Croatia manufactures the transparent UV-protective bottle for Pietra Limoncella, a beer introduced in 2025
  • The bottle uses feeder colouring, with UV-protective frits added to colourless base glass, leaving a slightly greenish tinge where the glass is thicker at the base
  • It is the first custom-designed bottle Brasserie Pietra has used for one of its beers
  • Vetropack Straza holds the widest range of glass colours in the group and runs smaller batches of special and UV-protective colours through feeder colouring
  • Brasserie Pietra was founded in 1996 in Furiani, near Bastia in Corsica, and employs almost 50 people
